It is a gathering designed to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox (the 21st of Rova)

Goblins attacked the town during the festivities, but the identity of the leader at this point is simply "one of you longshanks" according to goblin captives.
The fight was tough, but the PCs prevailed. Even on full stomachs from hearty free food. And against fearsome goblins
People met:
Father Zantus, helped heal the party
Aldern Foxglove, saved by the PCs, and invites them for a drink, a chat and possible reward, staying at the Rusty Dragon for a few days before leaving town
Ameiko Kaijitsu, offered free rooms for a week to each of the PCs (proprietor of the Rusty Dragon)

The scene ends with the conclusion of the days festivities. The festival is serving a dual purpose, and while the Swallowtail festival is being observed, the erection and consecration of a new church, primarily for Desna (actual ceremony will be held the next day), replacing one that had burned down 5 years ago and taking lives with it. It is both a festive and solemn occasion, but people are in generally high spirits, in light of the goblin attack.
Fortunately for Sandpoint, goblins aren't renowned strategists, and little damage was done. A few dogs were killed, quite a few people are bearing minor injuries from torches and flailing dogslicers, but all in all, the event carries on, and was no more disturbed than it would have been had a drunken brawl broken out amongst the towns more inebriated, and coarse festival goers. Children that haven't yet been sent to bad scurry about the square chasing butterflies that had been released earlier in the day as part of the celebration, and the evening winds itself down peacefully.

ReplyDeleteThanks and if I left anything out tell me and I'll add it. Treasure was left off since the group isn't actually a "group" yet, and not sharing that stuff. Once everyone has reached that point I'll add that to the wrap up.
